The cats of the medina
Nobody moves them.
In Islam the cat is clean, and a hadith holds that affection for cats is part of faith. Here that is not a metaphor: they sleep in shop doorways, on café chairs, on warm riad tile. Not strays. Residents.
Marrakech · Painted to order
They have never been further than the park. One photo is all it takes. The great square at dusk, the cobalt wall at Majorelle, a carved gate in the afternoon sun. Seventeen real places. They can stand in any of them.
See it free, in two minutes. Prints from €49, framed from €98. Or keep the file for €24.

The Transformation
No studio. No sitting still. No good camera. Every one of these started as a photo somebody nearly deleted.

Kitchen worktop → Jardin Majorelle

Front hallway → the Koutoubia at last light

A chair by the window → a Gueliz terrace
These are demonstration pieces from our own atelier, not customer commissions.
Yours is painted the same way, from whatever photo you have.
Not Sure Yet
Seventeen places is a lot to weigh up. Tell us one thing and we will pick.
In Their Words
Step One
Seventeen real places across six quarters. Pick the light you want them in: lantern smoke at dusk, cool courtyard shade, or the last orange hour on the wall.

The cats of the medina
Nobody moves them.
In Islam the cat is clean, and a hadith holds that affection for cats is part of faith. Here that is not a metaphor: they sleep in shop doorways, on café chairs, on warm riad tile. Not strays. Residents.
The oldest hound in Africa
A dog in this street is not a foreign idea.
The Sloughi ran with Amazigh tribes across this ground for thousands of years. Kept for hunting, for guarding, for company. Treated as family, not livestock. It has been standing here a very long time.
What the light does
An hour before sunset the whole city turns the colour of its walls.
Ochre plaster holds the heat and gives it back, so anything standing in it is lit from the ground as well as the sky. It is why painters came, and why each of the seventeen places carries its own hour.
Marrakech is not a backdrop we liked the look of. It is the argument.
The Occasions
For the one who is gone
Somewhere for them to be.
Not a replacement. A place they never got to go, painted as though they had. Tick this one is no longer with us and the studio changes tense with you: nothing cheerful, nothing to celebrate, just the painting, done properly.
Begin quietlyFor somebody else
You already have the photograph.
That is the whole secret. You see the finished painting before paying a cent, your note is packed with the print so the parcel can go straight to them, and the file reaches your inbox first. You see it before they do.
Make it for themFor no reason at all
The dog is seven. The hallway is bare.
They have never been further than the park and never will be, which is precisely why a painting of them in the great square at dusk is worth having. No occasion required. Looking is free.
See them thereThe Red City
The city your painting comes from. Every place on the map is somewhere you could actually stand.

Generated images of the places, not photographs and not customers.
Nobody is in them, because nobody is in what we make either. Only your animal.
How It Works
Whatever you have on your phone. The eyes matter, nothing else does. No account, no card, no catch.
Seventeen real places, each with its own hour. The square at dusk suits a dog who owns a room. The shaded courtyard suits one who does not.
Keep the file, or have it printed on enhanced matte art paper and posted to you. Add a frame and it arrives ready for the wall.
Ready To Hang
A moulding, a conservation mount and an acrylic glaze, assembled around your painting before it is posted. Choose a finish and see it.

A rendering, not a photograph. Yours is assembled after you order it.

No wall of five-star reviews yet. Here is what stands in its place.
The painting is finished, and free, before money is mentioned. Look at it, sleep on it, walk away. Nothing is charged until you say so.
Tell us what is wrong: the markings, an ear, the colour. We paint it again in minutes, not the week a revision takes elsewhere. A repaint never costs a credit: the same animal in the same place is counted once, however many attempts it takes. That holds after it has shipped, not just before.
No account, no card, no mailing list to see your first painting. Sign in later only if you want it kept.
Questions
Yes, and there is no card and no account. Upload, choose a place, and we paint it. You see the whole finished painting first. You pay only if you want to keep the file or hang it on a wall.
Almost certainly not. A normal phone photo on a sofa is exactly what these are made from. All that matters is that you can see their eyes and their face is not hidden. Skip heavy filters and very dark shots and you are fine.
There is a box under every finished painting for exactly this. Write what is wrong, the white is only on his left front leg, her nose is black, not brown and we paint it again with that in front of us, in minutes rather than the week-per-revision a made-to-order portrait house needs. A repaint never costs a credit: the same animal in the same place is counted once, however many attempts it takes. You know their face better than anyone, so you are the only judge that counts. If it has already shipped, write to berbernest.studio@gmail.com and a person answers. We would rather paint it ten times and print it twice than leave something on your wall that is nearly them.
You can, and for a picture of a dog in a vaguely Moroccan street it will do fine. Two things are different here. The first is the places: these are seventeen real addresses in one city, each with its own hour and its own light, built from the actual geography. You are choosing Jemaa el-Fnaa at dusk, not "a Moroccan square". The second is that we are not selling you a file to admire in a tab. We are selling the thing that arrives in a tube, giclée-printed with pigment inks on 200gsm enhanced matte art paper, that you put on a wall. If all you want is the image, take the download at €24 and print it yourself. We will not pretend that is not an option.
Every one, on its true coordinates. The map is built from the actual city: real building footprints, real streets, the real rampart ring. Jemaa el-Fnaa really does look like that at dusk, and the Majorelle blue really is that blue.
Two to four days to make, then however long the post takes to reach you. Nothing sits in a warehouse: yours is printed after you order it, at the facility nearest you. Framed orders take a little longer than prints sent flat.
Yes. Several places are built for pairs, and the Mamounia gardens in particular were made for two. Get them both in one photo and choose that place. The price does not change. One painting is one painting, whoever is in it.
Photograph it within thirty days and we reprint and repost free, or refund you in full. Your choice. You do not send anything back. The glaze on framed pieces is acrylic rather than glass for exactly this reason: it does not shatter in the post.
If the tracking has not moved for ten working days, or the window we quoted you has passed, write to berbernest.studio@gmail.com and we print it again and post it again. Free, no proof needed, no waiting for the carrier to finish an investigation first. If you would rather have the money back at that point, say so instead and we refund you in full. Once a parcel has genuinely gone missing it is our problem, not yours, and chasing the carrier is our job.
The checkout shows an arrival window for your country before you pay, so you are never guessing. If the date is genuinely close, there is a reliable trick: the digital file arrives in minutes, so it can be given on the day, printed at home or shown framed on a phone, while the print follows in the post.
It is one of the two most common reasons people are here. You almost certainly have a photo of their animal in your camera roll already. Tick this is a gift at the checkout: your note is written out and packed with the print so the parcel can go straight to them, and the file comes to your inbox first, so you see it before they do.

Two minutes to see it. A lifetime to walk past it.
See Your Pet Painted, FreeStep one
One photo, whatever you have. The eyes are what the painter works from, so those are the only thing worth checking. One photo, whatever you have. It will be waiting in your studio afterwards, alongside everything else you have painted.
A painting reads a photograph. Clear, front-on daylight keeps their markings honest; a dark or distant photo drifts toward the breed rather than the individual. If it drifts, you tell us what is wrong and we paint it again, free, as many times as it takes.
Step two
Seventeen real places. Click a marker, read what happens there, then send them.
Step three
About two minutes. You will see the whole thing finished before you are asked for anything.
The register:
Every tile shows the same cat in the same courtyard on purpose, so the only thing changing between them is the register itself, not the animal, and not the place. Yours is painted with your own animal, in the register you choose here.
Try it with:
Real things, worn the way they are worn in Marrakech. Not fancy dress. Changing this repaints the same animal in the same place, which never costs a painting.
Your scene is generated by an image model from the photograph you gave us, then printed and posted.
